The Power of Two: A Twin Triumph Over Cystic Fibrosis

About the Authors:

Which is which, you ask? Isa is in pink on the left, and Ana is in blue, on the right!

We are identical twins living in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA. Ana works as a genetic counselor and Isa is a health educator and social worker.  Both are co-chairs of Genentech's Heroes of Hope Living with Cystic Fibrosis Program. We are also active volunteers in the transplant and cystic fibrosis communities. Ana is a board member of Cystic Fibrosis Research, Inc., and Isa is a board member of The Breathing Room.

We are first-time authors who have been working on our memoir since 2003. We have enjoyed the therapeutic process of writing about our experiences and recommend it for everyone.  We've met many incredible people in our writing groups and classes.

Our experience has influenced us to cherish the following values:

1. Each human interaction is a cherished blessing.

2. Illness has great potential to teach awareness and appreciation of life.

3. Life is too short to not appreciate every moment- the good and the bad.

For fun, we enjoy hiking, swimming, running, and volunteering for our local cystic fibrosis and transplant community agencies.  We are fortunate to be surrounded by loving and caring friends.

Isa lives with her husband Andrew and her dog Rupie Giles.  Ana lives 4 miles away. Ana is recovering from the second double lung transplant she received on July 13, 2007 .

Ana and Isa are available for public speaking engagements to discuss their book and successful living with cystic fibrosis.
